Yoga and Body Image Class and Book Discussion + Photo Shoot!

Yoga and Body Image Book Discussion and Yoga Asana

A 5-Part Class Series

In the book, “Yoga and Body Image: 25 Personal Stories about Beauty, Bravery, and Loving Your Body,” Melanie Klein and Anna Guest-Jelley bring together a diverse group of writers to share their voices and experiences related to the complexity of issues around yoga and body image.

This important and powerful book has become the basis for the Yoga & Body Image Coalition’s mission and activism around the world. These series of yoga classes and book discussions will center around the book’s essays and main themes.

Classes will begin with a brief meditation, followed by a discussion based on one of the 6 sections from the book, “Yoga and Body Image” and will conclude with a Yoga asana (physcial practice) for all levels.

Has yoga changed your life and made you feel better in your body?

Do you LOVE the practice of yoga but don’t like the idea of aspiring to the “yoga body” as seen in the magazines or Lululemon ads?

Do you love to be around like-minded, friendly and incredibly caring and acceptable people?

Then join me and some other awesome folks for a one hour gentle yoga practice followed by a discussion the book “Yoga and Body Image”.

At this month’s meet up, we will be going over section 5 of the book Yoga and Body Image by Melanie Klein and Anna Guest-Jelley. This section asks us to consider how yoga shows up for people of different gender identities and sexual orientations.

***AND….***
If at least 10 people sign up and also show up, the photographer responsible for the beautiful cover of the book, Sarit Rogers, will be here for a photo shoot following the class at 12 PM!
She is an AMAZING woman on top of an incredibly gifted and talented photographer. The photos will be used in the Yoga and Body Image Coalition’s campaigns that show every body is a yoga body.

Please bring your own yoga mat as there are only a few to borrow. This is a donation based class.

Light snacks, water and towels are provided.

There is only space for 12 yogis in the studio so please sign up and commit to showing up 🙂
